Asnières-sur-Oise is a rural village stretching along the foothills of the Carnelle forest. Its main treasure, in the nearby countryside, is Royaumont Abbey. This commune of 2,540 inhabitants is the heir to a medieval village "free and jointly responsible to the King", according to a charter issued by Louis VIII in 1223. You can visit the 12th-century church of Saint-Rémy. Take a look at the old red-brick factory that used to produce rubber toys, including the famous Sophie giraffe. This activity was relocated to Haute-Savoie in 1993. A picturesque hamlet nestles in the Bois des Bonnets.
