A staging post on the road to Locus Sanctus (Lieusaint) in Gallo-Roman times, Nandy grew steadily. Part of its territory was donated by Louis VII to the Order of the Temple in 1149, and became the property of the Hospitaller Order in 1789, before becoming part of the Grand Paris Sud Seine Essonne Sénart agglomeration community. Home to a 13th-century church, a 17th-century château that has been used several times as a film location, and a mysterious Cognet cave on the banks of the Seine, Nandy gives access to the Rougeau forest. A green lung on the outskirts of Melun, the forest offers a wide range of walking opportunities.
