The commune bears the marks of civilizations predating Antiquity, such as the Aglia necropolis. Recent excavations have uncovered a port at Palo pond, mentioned by Ptolemy. You can visit the Casabianca tower, a fine square Roman-style structure built in the 14thcentury as a defensive post. A2nd tower, further east, once existed under the name of casone, of which only a few well-preserved stones remain on a house located on the site of the former tower. The parish church has a handsome stone bell tower and, a little further on, the ruins of the Santa Maria chapel are a fine example of early Romanesque art.
