A small mountain village, it is home to a former 17th century Franciscan convent on its heights. The hamlet of Peru is the most important and it has beautiful old houses. In Casevechje you can see the remains of the chapel of Santa Maria-Assunta, dating from the 10th century. Its stones were used in the construction of the chapel of the Assunta. In the hamlet you can see a plaque on the birth house of Angelo Mariani: the inventor of the first drink made from coca leaves. It was in 1863 that this pharmacist produced his first preparation with this little-known plant. From 1875 onwards, coca wine met with great success and was marketed.
