Langeais is a historic city of character, bordered by the royal river on one side and the forest, hillside and troglodyte dwellings on the other. It also boasts an abundance of economic activity. More than 150 craftsmen, shopkeepers and industrialists have settled here. One of the oldest towns in Touraine, it boasts a rich architectural heritage, with several Romanesque churches and a15th-century château. It was the scene of an important event for France: the marriage of Anne de Bretagne and Charles VIII, which led to Brittany becoming part of France.
