In the heart of the Anjou region, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is located on the right bank of the Loire, on the border with Maine-et-Loire. Like its neighbour Bourgueil, the town owes its fame to its winegrowing past (and present). It is not surprising that the barrel and the grape are at the heart of the town's coat of arms. Its Protected Designation of Origin is the only one in the Loire Valley to be limited to the administrative boundaries of the town. The vineyard is composed of gravel, sand and sometimes tufa. Discover also the old quarry of Tenières, put in water and vegetated. More than 150 species of birds can now be observed there.
