Close to all accesses and Tours, Savonnières has a strategic location. It was in the 1st century that the Romans settled here to build a soap mill, hence the name still in use. In the 19th century, it was a port, a place of strong river passage on the Cher. A memory that the association Les Bateliers du Cher continue to keep alive. We go back in time again with the Petrifying Caves. This curiosity dates from the secondary era when the place was still a sea. For centuries, craftsmen have been creating limestone objects there. Another stop not to be missed: the 12th century church, listed, and its magnificent carved porch
