Ailleurs Café, a café and bookshop dedicated to adventurous literature, opened its doors in May 2023 in an old building flanked by a medieval tower filled with antique objects. The inspiration behind the project came from Odile and Xavier, two inspired souls who set down their trunks in Auray to continue their immobile journey. A number of tutelary figures watch over the place, including Kessel, London, Henry de Monfreid and Alexandra David-Néel. On the food side, savoury platters, home-made pastries and cocktails. Last year, Manon opened Patachoux, a patisserie-tea room, after working in a number of Parisian patisseries. Each month, she offers a different homemade chou, which is also available in a savoury version at lunchtime (choudwiches!). In addition to her classic and original choux made from local produce and filled with seasonal ingredients, you'll find a fine range of organic teas and specialty coffees. Children are also well catered for, with a selection of board games to keep them occupied.

With Gaspartine, Christophe has put into practice an idea that had been germinating for a long time: to make quality, fresh and organic produce accessible in a neighborhood grocery store. His credo: taste above all else and a variety of prices to suit all budgets. Fruits and vegetables from local producers compete for space on the stalls. The cupboards are home to local beers, and the revamped crates to natural or organic wines. Cheeses, yoghurts, dried foods and a selection of bulk hygiene products are also available. Flour comes from Poligné, honey from Rennes and coffee from La Bouëxière. Christophe regularly renews his products as he discovers new ones. All with a very friendly welcome.
