In order to protect the coast from any invasion during the Roman period, watch towers were constructed. Most of the towers were destroyed after the Napoleonic wars. The semaphore which is 100 meters high was built in 1860 on a promontory overlooking both the city and sea. During the Second World War, it was occupied by German troops, and later became the marine office until 1958 when it became the sentinel of the sea up till 1979. The present building was inaugurated on January 13 1986. An orientation post is found nearby.

Feel free to walk through the piriacaises streets to admire the old granite houses, flowered by hydrangeas and hollyhocks. The narrow and winding streets stretch out their arms, some of them will offer you the sea as a backdrop. Venture in the footsteps of the famous writers who came to stay in Piriac. Several houses in the port belong to the family of the writer Alphonse de Châteaubriant and date back to the 17th century. The large house, reminiscent of the Flemish style, received the writer regularly until the last war. Castel Rado (2, rue Neuve) was built in 1626 and has a beautiful stone staircase, dormers and an original roof. At the entrance to the alleyway of the Sourd, one of the oldest houses in Piriac, dating from 1640, can be seen on the left

This hall has a pillar structure. It houses the standard oven, the centre of social life for centuries and which always works during the holidays. In particular, it is used during the annual bread festival on the first Sunday in August.

It is located on the highest hill on the island and is a beacon for the entrance of the Bay of Morlaix. Its construction in 1836 contributed to the expansion of cabotage in the ports of Morlaix and Roscoff. Automated, there have been no more guards since 1995. Visits are organized in season. To take advantage of the superb view that awaits you at the top of the building (44 m), you will need to climb some 210 steps. The panorama is a lot of effort.
