Visit the Collégiale Sainte-Pierre de Douai, 112 metres long and 24 metres high.
The particularity of this church, whose history goes back to the 9th century? Its separate bell tower, which gave its name to the Rue du Clocher-Saint-Pierre. Raised to the rank of collegiate church in 1012, it gained in popularity, but required a refurbishment to reopen in 1750. Today, it is 112 meters long and 24 meters high. As soon as you arrive, you will surely be impressed by its bell tower-porch, but also by the paintings inside, or by its organ case made in the 18th century by the Valencian sculptor Antoine Gilis.

Collégiale, bientôt basilique?
Une demande a été faite au prés du Vatican pour l'ériger au titre de basilique aux dires d'un employé de l'édifice avec lequel j'ai parlé.Elle le mériterait, dans le département du nord c'est elle la plus longue et son architecture est harmonieuse.

Bel édifice, c'est grandiose et majestueux, son architecture fait poser des questions avec un beau mélange de style, son intérieur de très grande taille avec nombreuses chapelles, et surtout un orgue de toute beauté.
