Discover the Grands Bureaux de la Société des Mines de Lens, the historic site of the Jean Perrin Faculty of Science.

The Grands Bureaux de la Société des Mines de Lens now houses the Faculty of Science. Built between 1928 and 1930 to designs by Louis-Marie Cordonnier to restore the importance of coal mining after the destruction of the Great War, the neo-regionalist building features magnificent Art Deco decorative elements. With its 81-metre façade, the imposing building can be admired from the beautiful formal gardens, which are open all year round.

Bâtiment très connu à Lens, situé non loin du célèbre stade Bollaert dans lequel joue l'équipe du Racing Club de Lens. Mémoire de la période minière, on y trouve maintenant la factulté des sciences. Bâtiment aussi beau à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur. Une visite s'impose.

A building exceptional I recommend the visit as well outside and inside. This castle of mining industry has real nuggets: monumental chandeliers, majestic fireplace, marble staircase. As for the French gardens, a walk in the park is necessary!
