UMOONA OPAL MINE & MUSEUM

Specialized museum
4/5
1 review

Umoona Opal Mine and Museum is Coober Pedy's largest underground exhibition of gemstones and fossils. The guided tour gives an insight into the life of the local miners, both their working conditions and their life in the dugouts, the underground dwellings that abound here. It's a great history lesson that gives us a better understanding of life here. Children should love the visit! Jewelry store.

WOLF BLASS VISITOR CENTRE

Agriculture and viticulture

Not to be missed on the Sturt Highway that links Adelaide to the Riverland. Wolf Blass, the founder, chose a modern semi-circular architecture for the reception of the public and the sale and tasting of wines. Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre or the Penfolds Barossa Valley Winery and Cellar Door may have a little more charm, but for the wine, you can judge the difference, in moderation. There are some very good reds, whites and sparkling wines.
