BEEHIVE CORNER BUILDING
Neo-Gothic building by architects George Klewitz Soward and Thomas English on the corner of King William Street and the Mall.
Situated at the corner of King William Street and Rundle Mall, this neo-Gothic building is emblematic of Adelaide and was completed in 1896. Designed by architect George Soward, it is distinguished by its corner turret adorned with a gilded beehive topped by a bee, symbolizing the flourishing commercial activity of the period. Since 1915, it has been home to Haigh's Chocolates, Australia's oldest family-run chocolate factory, founded by Alfred Haigh. The building, restored in the 1990s, allows visitors to appreciate the historic architecture... while enjoying handmade chocolates!
