Housed in an old mine dating from the 1920s, this underground attraction plunges visitors into the heart of opal history. A guided tour through authentic galleries explains the formation and extraction of this precious stone. The dugouts, typical Coober Pedy underground dwellings, bear witness to local living conditions. The museum features an exhibition on Aboriginal and mining history. A boutique offers a selection of Australian opals and jewelry.
