It is one of the oldest villages on the island. Although many of its houses and the church were destroyed in the 1998 earthquake, it still has beautiful traces of its past. A walk to the Antigas Pias, the old wash houses of the village installed in the hollow of the river, will plunge you into the life of the past. Pedro Miguel is also worth a visit for its natural sites. The botanical garden has set up a conservation area at 400 meters above sea level, while a little lower down, a pond with a stilt house allows you to observe the many endemic and migratory birds that stop over in the Azores
