Crição Velha is the last stop on your tour of the island. There are two sights not to be missed. The first is obvious: you'll be driving along part of it from the main road. This is the landscape of Pico's vineyards, a veritable field of low, squared-off walls, built on red earth, each encircling a few precious vines. A mill in the distance, the ocean in the background: the area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Although it's tempting to drive here, we'd advise against it: don't forget the U-turn! As for the second curiosity, it hides in the heights of the locality: the Gruta das Torres.
