A tour focusing on volcanology is conceivable, but as all the islands are of volcanic origin, the entire archipelago would have to be visited! Depending on the itinerary you choose, the following sites are must-sees. A third week is spent in Flores and Corvo, visiting the caldeirão, an imposing crater in Monte Gordo. Simply blowing... Released in 1957, it forms a majestic lunar landscape. Its interpretation centre is a very informative visit.
Day 14: Caldeira
An immense crater 2 km in diameter, 8 km in perimeter and 400 m deep. A grandiose natural space.
