Saint-Daunès, a small village attached to Barguelonne-en-Quercy, bears a name that refers to Denis, the first bishop of Paris, a toponym that was changed to Daunès during the Revolution. The occupation of the land is ancient, Paleochristian sarcophagi having been unearthed during the development of the central square in the 1970s. The village is also accessible by a two-arched bridge in the Romanesque style crossing the small river Barguelonne. Its Latin cross church, built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 13th and 19th centuries, was once part of Cahors Cathedral. Only part of the side walls of the nave are original.
