Faggeto Lario, which actually consists of four villages, Riva di Faggeto, Molina, Lemna and Palanzo, has existed since at least the time of ancient Rome, as evidenced by the tombs discovered here. They were connected since the Middle Ages by a path linking Brunate to Bellagio through the mountains. A remarkable medieval tower is still visible in Palanzo, 12 metres high, built in 1572. Today, there are 1,300 inhabitants and you can see pretty little churches like the one of Santa Margherita in Molina or the 16th century Chiesa del Soldo.
