Hanging at the foot of Mount Brè, directly on the shores of Lake Lugano is the old fishing village of Gandria. Closed to traffic and virtually unchanged for a hundred years, this picturesque little village has a unique charm not to be missed. Its narrow streets, terraced houses (some dating from the 16th and 17th centuries), courtyards and arcades, the baroque church of San Vigilio and its high medieval bell tower overlooking the houses make it one of the most beautiful villages in the region.
