This charming fishing village, popular with tourists in summer, is located at the tip of the Ceresio peninsula, on the shores of Lake Lugano, and is known as the "Pearl of Ceresio". It is home to two remarkable religious buildings, both for their setting and for the frescoes they house. They are reached by long, interminable stone staircases with magical views. The path back down to the lake leads through a series of charming alleyways. Very easy to reach from Lugano, it takes just 10 minutes by car, or by public transport (train to Melide, then bus), or on foot from Melide (2h20 walk).
