Situated at the foot of Mount Santa Bárbara, Hernani is a highly industrialized city that nevertheless has some interesting monuments in its old quarter. The latter, located on a small hill and classified as a monumental complex, is oval in shape due to the presence of walls in the past. Today it is home to the 16th-century San Juan Bautista church, the town hall and the Gudarien Enparantza square. It is also home to the Chillida-Leku Museum, which has, good news, reopened to the public in 2019. But Hernani is especially worth a visit during the "Txotx" season, when its traditional cider houses can be discovered.
