It was once one of the most important commercial ports in Gipuzkoa. Zumaia is a coastal town with many assets, starting with two splendid beaches, a charming city center and a modern marina. Located on the Way of Saint James, the town is famous for its San Telmo festivities, during which you can watch tamborradas and Basque pelota demonstrations. The charm of the place did not escape two artists, the sculptor Julio Beobide and the painter Ignacio Zuloaga, to whom Zumaia has dedicated a museum. As far as religious heritage is concerned, the Gothic church of San Pedro (13th century) is worth a visit.
