Travel Guide Salto Do Cavalo

From Furnas, take the road north towards Ribeira Grande and turn right towards Salga to reach the Salto do Cavalo viewpoint, at 805 m altitude. The route is very pleasant, with fine views of the island's interior and then the south and north coasts. The countryside is supremely tranquil. The panorama from the belvedere is magnificent on a clear day: you can see the entire Furnas valley, the lake sometimes playing with your eyes when the light reflects the surrounding vegetation. It then seems to become one with it. In front, the Povoação plain and its seven surrounding hills. The setting is bucolic and restful.
