Bathed by the Nivernais canal, at the top of the Loire slope and to the west of the Morvan, Bazolles used to see the wood passing in transit from the Morvan to Paris. Today reserved for pleasure boating, the canal is fed by the Vaux and Baye ponds, two bodies of water attracting fishermen and sailing enthusiasts. It was at Bazolles that the first shovels were driven into the Nivernais canal in 1784. The largely Romanesque church of Le Bourg, the leisure lake and the "lock town" of Baye with its house built in 1785, the Bois de Vaux, the hamlet of Meuré and the Alnain valley are all assets and reasons to stop here.
