Cormatin, on the road to Cluny, is a charming little commune that welcomes many tourists with a passion for history and old stones, who come to visit its historic heritage, including the splendid 17th-century château with its French-style park. The pretty Romanesque church in the hamlet of Chazelle, dating from the early 12th century, is well worth a visit: it has kept its slender bell tower and lava-capped apse intact, and houses a Pietà painted in the 15th century in the workshops of Hans Memling. The Grosne River flows through the commune, which is also bordered by the greenway, offering tourists a serene, bucolic setting.
