Travel Guide La Collancelle

The municipality of La Collancelle, just 200 inhabitants, is famous for its vaults under the mountain built in 1784 for the passage of the Nivernais canal. We had to make light to dig in granite and porphyry a 4 km sillon between the pond of Baye and the hamlet of Port-Brûlé. The Magnifiques vaults, magnificent under large vegetation, take three tunnels: the Collancelle tunnel (758 m); the Mouas tunnel (268 m); the Breuilles tunnel (212 m). Between each tunnel there are trenches, parts of the canal not covered. It is certainly the most beautiful piece of the Nivernais Canal.
