Village of about 160 inhabitants. Its church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas, has a bell tower and a high altar from the 17th century. The ruins of the castle of Santa María de Auctares can be seen, where, according to documents dated 1072, a nobleman required pilgrims to pay a tribute to pass through his lands, before Alfonso VI and Doña Urraca abolished this right. The town was repopulated at the same time by Diego Gelmirez, Archbishop of Compostela, who worked hard to modernize the diocese and make it an important urban center. There are not many shops in the town, but you will find everything you need.
