While the name Pampaneira comes from pampinarium, place of vineyards, and Bubión de bovium, place of oxen, Capileira caps it all and owes its name to capillaria, hair. Also located on the Barranco de Poqueira, but at almost 1,500 meters above sea level, you can enjoy magnificent views of the barranco, a ravine, from its various viewpoints, but also see the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada, the Mulhacén and the Veleta. In this village you will discover its small, steep and sloping streets covered with cobblestones, stairs, old washhouses, nooks and crannies or even its old bread counter, postigo del pán.
