Leaning against a slope of the Sierra Almijara, this typical white village offers spectacular views of the Costa del Sol. But it's the casco antiguo, one of the best preserved in the province of Malaga, that makes it so charming, and has earned it the status of historic-artistic ensemble since 2014 and inclusion in the selective club of Spain's most beautiful villages. Occupied by the Romans and later part of the Nasrid kingdom, it was also a decisive location during the Moorish rebellion of the 16thcentury , finally defeated at the Battle of the Rock.
