Famous for its thermal cures of Arabic origin from which it takes its name, al-hammam, but also for its location, perched above a spectacular canyon formed by the Alhama river, this small town had its heyday in the Middle Ages. In 1884, it suffered a terrible earthquake. In the southeast of the city, we will visit its old quarter, with as emblematic references, the Mayor de la Encarnación church, its castle, rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century on what was the old Arab Alcazaba or the Carmen church and magnificent views of the Alhama River. It is also worth visiting on the occasion of its carnival.
