This city of over 17,400 inhabitants was originally Iberian and later a Roman garrison. The town boasts a wealth of Baroque and Renaissance mansions, built by the Dukes of Osuna. It boasts an admirably well-preserved artistic and historical heritage. It includes numerous monuments dating mainly from the 16th century, a period of great prosperity when Osuna was the center of a powerful duchy. More recently, however, its plaza de Toros was chosen as the filming location for season 5 of Game of Thrones. Today, Osuna is also home to the Colegiata de Santa Maria de la Asunción in the hills above the town.
