Within the Sierra Nevada mountain range, it covers an area of 86,208 hectares and includes 44 villages belonging to the provinces of Granada and Almería, with peaks exceeding 3,000 meters. It is a biosphere reserve with more than 65 native botanical species. Access to the park is by road (A-395) that leads to the Sierra Nevada ski resort, the most famous and among the best equipped in Spain. It has 100 kilometers of slopes, 110 of which are marked out for all levels.
