Going even further west towards Nerja, we arrive at La Herradura, which is only 4 km from the Costa del Sol. And which has a bay protected by the Punta de la Mona, to the east, and by the Cerro Gordo, to the west, offering twenty-six very different beaches, including the naturist Playa Cantarriján, and good conditions for paragliding. It's a small corner of happiness compared to the horror of Torrenueva near Motril and some Grenadins don't hesitate to drive a few more kilometres to get here. If you don't want to go to Motril for its beaches, you can take a trip through Motril to visit its museum dedicated to sugar cane. The region produces a fairly good rum
