With nearly 60,600 inhabitants, Motril is the capital of the Costa Tropical. Its old centre is typical of Spanish-Arab urban planning. Today, it is an industrial and port centre that offers sandy beaches mixed with pebbles. A special feature is that it produces a fairly good rum with sugar cane from the surrounding fields. You can also visit its museum dedicated to sugar cane.
