In an austere Baroque style, this 17th century building was built on the site of the city's former alcazaba, which served as the summer residence of Aixa, mother of King Boabdil. Inside there is a 15th century sculpture representing the Virgen de la Cabeza, patron saint of Motril, as well as an altarpiece by the sculptor Manuel González Ligero.
