Brunico (835 m above sea level) or Bruneck is a fascinating town, whose charm is revealed above all by walking through the narrow streets of the center. It is the economic and tourist heart of the Val Pusteria and its medieval houses on the Via Centrale are magnificent testimonies of the skill and finesse of the architects of the past. They are decorated with frescoes and embroidered roofs (Kirschenberg house), with sculpted portals and wrought iron signs: the whole soul of Tyrol is here. When it comes to shopping, you will be spoilt for choice between gastronomic products, ceramic stoves and regional costumes made of Loden fabric. Finally, Brunico is an unexpectedly artistic destination. There are several interesting museums in the center, but also two new museums opened recently at the top of the Plan de Corones ski area, the Messner Corones dedicated to the history of mountaineering and its neighbor Lumen, dedicated to mountain photography.
