Idiazabal is the village of cheese! There is a beautiful church dedicated to the archangel St. Michael (its 12th century portal is spectacular) and the hermitage of Gurutzeta, as well as some indianos palaces and other sensational stately homes. But if you come to this small village of 2,300 inhabitants, it is above all to buy cheese and, why not, to pay homage to the monument of the Shepherd. In May, Idiazabal hosts numerous festivities around cheese and pastures, and you can watch the shearing of the sheep. In the vicinity of the town, there is a group of megalithic monuments dating from the Neolithic and Bronze Age.
