This fjord of 20 km remains among the longest of the area since it extends from Djupivogur to the north-west in the interior. It is famous for salmon farming but also for the mountain Búlandstindur (1,069 m) where, according to legend, the inhabitants threw away the pagan idols when the country was converted to Christianity around the year 1000.
