Seyðisfjörður is a picturesque port of 720 inhabitants, nestling at the head of a 16 km-long fjord. The fjord is so narrow and steep that, for three months of the year, the sun doesn't reach the valley. On your drive from Egilsstadir, you won't be surprised to find numerous snowfields on its high plateau, a unique and striking sight. Today, the town's economic activity is still generated by fishing and, above all, by the weekly arrival of the car ferries which, since 1975, have been sailing from Denmark via the Faroe Islands. Today, the small town is one of the most dynamic in the Eastern Fjords.
