Travel Guide Pieve D'Alpago

The municipality of Pieve d'Alpago is situated at the foot of Mount Dold (1,938 metres above sea level). Inhabited since ancient times, its territory has always been a strategic place for defence, thanks to the excellent view it offers of Santa Croce and the nearby Cansiglio forest. Most of the buildings are made of stone with stepped roofs, typical of the alpine area. This village offers a picturesque picture of the Venetian Dolomites Skiing, rock climbing, hang gliding. Thanks to its privileged relationship with the nearby mountains, Pieve has become the destination for lovers of skiing, hiking and rock climbing. The latter sport, as well as hang gliding, has recently attracted many enthusiasts to the Dolada/ Dolomieu refuge (above the village). Because of its proximity to the dolomite peaks and the Piave valley, this refuge is considered by the new Icarus as an ideal starting point
