A few kilometres after Chtaura, turn right into the Jesuit Fathers of Taanayel. The history of this convent dates back to 1860, the date of the murder of six Jesuit Fathers in Zahle and Deir el-Qamar during the civil war. In 1963, to compensate for these murders, a parcel of 230 hectares belonging to the French State was ceded to the Jesuits. Covered with swamps, the parcel is set from 1871 to 1880 and becomes fertile.Today, the convent of Taanayel is renowned for its farm model with 160 head of cattle, vineyards and orchards. The artificial lake, located in the centre of the area in 1963, invites you to the promenade. Children can admire animals from the farm. On the other hand, the parents focus at the shop. Dairy products - milk, yoghurt, labné, laban - of the convent are excellent and without additives. The gouda au is recommended.
