Blaesheim, located in the south of the Strasbourg Eurometropolis, sits at an altitude of 198 meters on a hillside. At its summit stands the Tour du Gloekelsberg, a Roman pagan stronghold at the time of the region's Christianization (estimated to have been built in the 12th century). Today, all that remains of this Romanesque church is the entrance lintel. The semicircular arch is decorated with two primitive figures. In 1977 and 1981, heads of state Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and Helmut Schmitt had lunch at the Au Bœuf restaurant. Take a stroll through the streets of this charming village, and admire the beautiful half-timbered houses typical of Alsace.
