A gap in the Faroese rock, like a narrow gash that the sea tries to fill: Gjógv means ravine. An excursion not to be missed. Many hikes around the gorge are possible. The small harbour is nestled in a crack in the cliff. It is very deep and has a cement slope at the bottom to winch boats in case of bad weather. Eminently photogenic, with its coloured boats, this place offers a dark perspective towards the sea. The most famous image of the Faroe Islands. The village with its white houses with coloured roofs is located on the plateau, along the road leading inland.
