We leave the dark and compact mass of the northern islands to go down towards the south. Is it for this reason that everything seems different, colour, people, landscape, as if it were the southern Faroes? It is not wrong to talk about the southern side of Suðuroy, because one goes down quite far into the southern North Atlantic. The climate is milder than elsewhere. And the island offers quite different landscapes with its coal mines and strange basalt formations that seem to grow from the ground. In any case, the arrival at Tvøroyri, if the sun is shining, leads to the bottom of a fjord lined with coloured houses, scattered on its banks!
