With its 22,000 inhabitants and located 16 km from Faro, Loulé is a charming little market town with a strong tradition of craftsmanship inherited from the Moorish period. On Saturday mornings, until 1pm, don't miss the huge market that attracts all the Algarve's traders. Pottery, leather, shoes, ceramics, fruit, flowers, fish, honey and organic produce are all on sale... It's the kind of market you'd expect, with an authentic atmosphere and great bargains. The town was lucky enough to be less affected by the 1755 earthquake, and has therefore been able to preserve many of its old buildings. A tasty stopover to include on your itinerary.
