Ferragudo is one of those fishing villages which, by a miracle, have not been destroyed by the establishment of a hotel or by the directives ordered by the tourist industry. On the opposite shore from Portimão, this authentic haven manages to blend the appearance of a Breton village over a ria into a single entity, while maintaining a decidedly Portuguese character. Ferragudo has a direct view of the towers of Praia da Rocha and is a good excursion from Portimão. It is a pretty village with a protective fort on the waterfront that should not be overlooked while its authenticity remains..
