Situated between Alte and Loulé, nestled on a hilltop, Salir represents another Algarve, that of the interior, hills and rivers. Legend has it that when the Arabs attacked, the inhabitants shouted "Sair, sair" (go away), a pronunciation that gave rise to the village's current name. Its rich past is reflected in the ruins of the Moorish castle dating from the 12th century, from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Serra do Caldeirão. From here, you'll have a beautiful setting on the wooden footbridge to take photos. Rocha da Pena is one of the most beautiful hikes in the region.
