The island of Culatra is worth a visit for its unique atmosphere. It is part of this string of islands serving as a barrier to the coast of the Ria Formosa. Inhabited all year round by fishermen, it has also attracted a handful of tourists who have established their holiday homes there. On the island, apart from a small church at the foot of which fishermen seek shade, and the lighthouse, there are no visits to be planned. Which is a good thing, because you can then take advantage of the opportunity to go for long walks on the immense beach on the Atlantic side. As this part of the coastline is not very popular, it is a long way from the crowded beaches of the resorts
