The Ria Formosa is a protected area extending west from the Ancão peninsula to Manta Rota (Cacelha Velha) to the east, with an area of 18   400 ha hectares. It presents very thin peninsular islands which border the coast and evolve according to the whims of the sea  : Ilha do Faro, Ilha da Barreta, Ilha do Farol, Ilha da Culatra, Ilha da Armona, Ilha de Tavira and Ilha de Cabanas. Between the coast and these real natural protections against the strength of the ocean, the lagoon and its canals among sable. Don't miss the observation of Europe's rare chameleon.
